About the Trainer


Gregory Fox DVM

1980-1982 Attended Bard College NY. Began his study of exercise physiology and competed on the college cross country team.

1982-1985 Transferred to Boston University MA. Focused study on exercise physiology at Sargent College and the BU Cross Country and Track Teams.

1985 Spent the year in Copenhagen Denmark working in a research project  collaborating with the August Krogh Institute of Sport and the Charlottenlund Trotting racetrack examining the muscle buffering responses to various training programs in Standardbred racehorses. This research led to a publication in the 2nd Proceeding of the International Conference of Equine Exercise Physiology.

1985-1989 Attended Tufts University of Veterinary Medicine. During his senior year he was awarded a research grant to develop field tests for effort in the thoroughbred racehorse.

1989-1990 Worked full time in a mixed equine veterinary practice in Hanover County VA while examining effort levels in racehorses at the local training centers.

1990-1993 Worked on the Maryland thoroughbred racing circuit as a full time Veterinary practitioner.

1993-1999 In conjunction with EASI conducted predictive cardiovascular analysis on thoroughbreds.
During this period he also worked for Coolmore Stud as the attending Veterinarian on the numerous Stallion shuttle trips to Australia and Argentina. Included in the list of stallions were Thunder Gulch, Woodman, Royal Academy, Spinning World and Dehere. Also during this period Dr. Fox operated a small racetrack practice that included the care of  Richter Scale GI and Classic Cat G2.

2000-2005 Developed Thoroughbred Performance Diagnostics LLC into a full time consulting service designed to evaluate potential performance limitations in the thoroughbred as well as diagnosis and treatment of those individuals already racing. During this period he also was responsible for the veterinary care of a racing stable trained by his wife Jamie.  Included in her stable was Brazilian triple crown winner Roxinho (BRZ) the 2002 Tri-State Handicap winner, the muliple Stakes winner Knave and Stakes placed Cherniavsky.

2005-Present In partnership with his wife Jamie they established Fox Stables LLC and they have continued their pursuit of meticulous care in the development of the racehorses in their stable. Highlights include five Graded Stakes wins in 2007 and 2008 with Slew's Tizzy  and  Tizdejavu
